TyresEdinburgh.uk privacy policy
What we collect and why
1. Searching for tyres
On a registration search, the plate and the postcode you give are used to look up your car's tyre sizes and the fitting centres nearest you. The query goes to our fulfilment partner, Tyres.co.uk, the holder of the vehicle and fitting data; this site does not keep the search against your name, and beyond the usual server logs it is not kept at all. Entering a tyre size instead passes on nothing personal, only the size.
2. The centre finder
The finder that orders centres by distance sends the postcode you type to postcodes.io, a free public service, to get a map position, so the centres around Edinburgh can be ordered by how far away they are. Your postcode is not stored by this site, and no record of it remains after the sort.
3. Maps and weather
Maps on this site are drawn with OpenStreetMap tiles, that your browser asks openstreetmap.org for directly, so OpenStreetMap sees your IP address in the same way any website you visit does. The Edinburgh weather panel is asked for by our server, from the Met Office first and MET Norway if needed, for Edinburgh as a whole; nothing about you is sent to either.
4. Cookies and logs
No advertising or analytics cookie is set by TyresEdinburgh.uk, and there is no tracking script anywhere on it, whether you are pricing tyres or reading about Edinburgh's weather. Hosting is by Vercel, and its servers keep the ordinary short-term logs of IP address, browser and pages requested for security and stability; identifying you is not what they are for.
5. When you buy
At the point you press buy, you leave this site and the order is completed by our fulfilment partner, Tyres.co.uk. Your name, address, payment details, vehicle and fitting booking go to Tyres.co.uk and are processed there under its own privacy policy, which explains how that information is used and how to exercise your rights over it.
6. Reviews
The reviews shown on this site were written by verified buyers and are supplied by Tyres.co.uk, and show only a first name and initial. This site does not collect reviews itself, so there is nowhere here to leave one; the asking is done by Tyres.co.uk after the fitting.
7. Your rights and contact
UK data protection law says you can see the personal data held about you, have it put right or removed, and object to its being used. Since TyresEdinburgh.uk holds next to nothing about you, the data in question is usually an order, and that sits with Tyres.co.uk; in both cases, start with the contact page. This policy can change, and whatever is on this page is the version that applies, and nothing older counts.
